DEEP ECOLOGY is a celebration of food, fellowship, memories, and human relationship with the natural world in the form of a “sound dinner.” During a ten day to two week process, I forage sounds and wild food from the same locations within a circumference of a few miles, creating a multi-course gourmet meal to be served to local guests in conjunction with an audio experience involving spoken word, field recordings, and found sounds. It has now been performed twice, once in 2021 and again in 2022.
The version of DEEP ECOLOGY depicted in this video was filmed at United Plant Savers in Ohio at a summer residency in 2022, and contains footage from the dinner that was served and video that was shot during the ten days leading up to the event.
